WLG-X is a 5-day festival of creative collisions – bringing in international speakers from the music industry, plus tech, design, and film. At night, WLG-X will amp up with live performances, parties, and pop-up shows. This is your opportunity to get on that stage.
We’re looking for a diverse mix of bands and solo acts performing original songs. All genres are welcome, and we accept applications from around the world.
As a performer you’ll get a full festival pass to learn, network with folks in the industry, and hear from some of the world’s most creative and influential minds. Dig into the business side of music during industry talks, and invite the crowds to your gig afterwards. Perform at WLG-X.

When and where is WLG-X?
11-15 September 2019, across a range of venues in central Wellington, New Zealand. You and any bandmates must be able to present on any one of these days. Plus – as performers you’ll get a free festival pass, so we recommend sticking around for the entire time anyway!
What’s in it for me?
You’ll get a full festival pass for free (worth $800+) – and with it, the opportunity to network with fellow musicians and industry folks from around the world. You’ll also get to enjoy five amazing days of talks, performances, and films.
Please note, WLG-X does not provide accomodation or travel assistance.
What do you provide for the show?
We will provide a basic backline.
How will you choose who performs?
Our Music Programme Curator will work with the WLG-X Advisory Group to select the acts.
We’re a 12-piece band with three triangle players, will we all get a free festival pass?
Yes, you all will. Every ‘ting’ counts. You might need to prove that these are permanent band members (e.g in a recording of another performance).
I’m an amazing David Bowie impersonator, can I perform at WLG-X?
Sorry, while Bowie is amazing, we’re after original material only. Covers are OK within a set if they are original arrangements.
Can I also do a talk about an issue or idea for the music industry?
Yes, definitely. To submit a talk, head to our Call for Proposals page.
